Hope In The Battle

2 Chronicles 20:1-23 & Matthew 1

Big Idea: My Victory Comes Through Dependency

Hope In The Mess Comes Through:

1) Seek Help From God Immediately (v. 1-4)

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
- Ephesians 6:12

2) Pray Dependently (v. 5-12)

”Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
- Philippians 4:6-7

Set My Heart On:
1) God’s Mightiness (v. 5-7)
2) God’s Faithfulness (7-8)
3) God’s Holiness (v. 8-9)
4) God’s Deliverance (v. 9-12)

“'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

3) Stand Firmly (v. 13-20)

“'Death is swallowed up in victory.’” O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
– 1 Corinthians 15:54b-57

4) Worship Wholeheartedly (v. 18-23)

“In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.”
- Ephesians 6:16-18
