The Prayer God Always Answers

John 17:1-5

Big Idea: A Prayer For God’s Glorification Is Answered As I Seek Christ’s Exaltation

“He (Jesus) is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power.”
- Hebrews 1:3

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
- Philippians 2:5-11

God, Be Glorified As I:

1) Exalt Christ In My Circumstances (v. 1-3, 5)

How To Exalt Christ In My Circumstances:
1) Look Up (v. 1)

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
- Hebrews 12:1-3

2) Lift Up (v. 1-2)

2) Testify About Christ In My Relationships (v. 2-4)

3) Reflect Christ In My Pursuits (v. 2-5)

“You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.”
- James 4:2b-3
