Joshua 1:1-9; 3-4
Big Idea: Remembering God’s Might And Faithfulness Mobilizes The People Of God And Magnifies The Name Of God
Remembering God’s faithfulness and might (Joshua 1:1-9; 3-4):
1) Mobilizes the people of God (Joshua 1:1-9; 3:7-17)
“Then the Lord said, ‘I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.’”
- Exodus 3:7-8
2 truths to always remember:
1) God’s presence strengthens us (1:5-6; 9)
2) God’s Word guides us (1:7-8)
2) Magnifies the name of God (Joshua 4:1-24)
Always remember our great God:
1) So the next generation will know of His enduring faithfulness (4:21-23)
2) So all the peoples of the earth will know His mightiness (4:24a)
3) So the people of God will forever be filled with fear and reverence (4:24b)
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen!”
– Ephesians 3:20-21
