Gospel Gratitude

Romans 5:1-11

Big Idea: The Gospel Always Gives Us A Reason To Rejoice

Since we have been justified by faith:

1) We have peace with God (v. 1)

2) We stand in and through the grace of God (v. 2a)

3) We hope in the glory of God (v. 2b)

“Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He (Jesus) appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who thus hopes in Him purifies himself as He is pure.”
– 1 John 3:2-3

4) We know our suffering will accomplish the divine purposes of God (v. 3-5)

The school of sanctification through suffering (v. 3-5):
Suffering -> Endurance -> Character -> Hope

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured from sinners such hostility against Himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.”
– Hebrews 12:1-3

5) We experience reconciliation and salvation through the gospel of God (v. 5-11)
